REAL RABBI NYC

Coming From Love.

Keeping Things Real.

Why do I call myself the real rabbi?

Because I will always be real with you.

I am not afraid of the truth.

Your real truth.

The world’s real heartbreaks and conflicts.

And I am not afraid of the Divine being present in all things.

And I am real about the messiness of holding all of the truths that exist at once in the world.

And in each of us.

As the Real Rabbi, I want to support you through the beauty of Jewish life while understanding and supporting you through the very real challenges.

I came to be a rabbi after a lifetime of struggle for social, economic, racial, and gender equity and justice.

These things are woven into the very fabric of my being.

They inform everything I do, and every interaction I have.

Meanwhile, the world —and Judaism with it— is going through a huge paradigm shift.

As a rabbi, I see my role as pushing that shift along —naming the borders that need pushing.

My mission is to open doors and expand boundaries in all directions, both within and outside the Jewish world.

I am passionate about welcoming you and meeting your needs, whatever they are, wherever you come from, wherever you are. .

Maybe you feel on the margins of Jewish community for a myriad of reasons.

Perhaps you…

  • see yourself as spiritual but not religious

  • wish you could find spirituality in Jewish spaces but don’t know how

  • are part of an interfaith family, or are creating one

  • wish to weave cultures together

  • need Spanish-speaking Jewish clergy (yes, I am that!)

  • identify as LGBTQ

  • have felt rejected in Jewish spaces because one of your parents isn’t Jewish

  • “feel” Jewish and wish to be recognized as such

  • are a Jew of Color

  • are a Jew by Choice

Whatever your story, I want to hear it.

I will be here for you, welcoming you into the Jewish fold.
